Yodeling, yes; jazz at Montreux, of course — but there’s far more to the Swiss music scene, evidenced by this year’s great line-up of outdoor summer festivals. From June 25–28, the country’s oldest open-air music extravaganza, Open Air St. Gallen, takes off with a host of top acts including headliners The Chemical Brothers, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and up-and-comers Yes I’m Very Tired Now. From July 16–19, take the funicular or hike the slopes of Bern’s Gurten mountain to reach the annual Gurtenfestival, this year featuring Faithless, Ellie Golding and Patti Smith.
The town of Nyon between Geneva and Lausanne is the setting for this year’s Paléo Festival, July 20–26. Robbie Williams will be on stage, and festival pass holders receive complimentary admission to the town’s open-air pool and to three museums: the Roman Museum, Musée du Léman and the Swiss National Museum. Finally, from Aug. 20–23, it’s Gampel in Gampel in the stunning setting of the Valais valley. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the festival, with The Prodigy and popular German punk band Die Toten Hosen.

Sep 30, 2026Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley
Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
