The Mexican state of Guanajuato amps up its sanitary and preventative measures in light of new U.S. orders on international travel requiring a negative COVID-19 test for travelers entering the country from international destinations. With the United States the main source market for international travelers in Mexico, the Government of Guanajuato, its Ministry of Tourism, the tourism sector, municipal governments and Guanajuato International Airport work together to provide a safe, efficient and high-quality experience.
Tourists can now get COVID-19 tests at Guanajuato International Airport. Temporary modules were installed at the facility, with antigen tests priced at approximately $22 per person. PCR tests are around $72, and that pricing is exclusive for passengers on international flights.
Additionally, the agencies are in communication with hotels in Guanajuato City, San Miguel de Allende and Leon to include COVID-19 testing services at the establishments. Currently, about 3,000 companies in the state have adopted the “Distintivo Guanajuato Sano” certification, endorsed by the Safe Travels seal of the World Travel & Tourism Council.
