Spend Your Tax Refund On An Indulgent Getaway

Apr 9, 2015
Daily / Feature

Get a tax refund. Plan a vacation. That’s the “self-indulgent” plan for a majority of Americans who are anticipating a small windfall in the form of a tax refund.

Travelocity surveyed 1,000 Americans. When asked whether they would rather use their income tax refund on practical items or to treat themselves to something special, almost 30 percent of respondents chose indulgence. When asked to describe their top choice for a self-indulgent purchase, 47 percent of respondents said it would be a dream vacation.

“Travelocity’s survey reveals that Americans who want to treat themselves with their tax refunds are most interested in travel, clearly demonstrating that people are increasingly placing more value on experiences than on products,” said Brad Wilson, vice president and general manager, Travelocity.

In light of the findings, Travelocity is offering a three-day-only Tax Day Special. The Tax Day deals will be revealed beginning at midnight (EDT) April 14.
