Rebranded and all gussied up, the former 60 Thompson hotel has debuted with a new look and new name: Sixty SoHo. The luxury boutique property has 97 guestrooms and lofts, including 10 suites with French balconies. Throughout, there’s a sophisticated edge created by designer Tara Bernerd, who infused spaces with contrasting textures, warm lighting, soothing colors and velvet touches.

Lobby furnishings run the range from mid-20^th century to contemporary, accented by curated works by popular British artist Harland Miller (a.k.a. the International Lonely Guy). In guestrooms, planked timber floors and dark timber slatted blinds provide the framework for caramel leather furnishings with mohair accents, bespoke bar cabinets and desks created from petrol blue lacquer.

Amenities include terrycloth robes, personal care products from REN, and towels and linens by Sferra. Adding to the eclectic, intimate ambience, Miller is creating original works for rooms and suites. Roofside, Above SIXTY’s new terrace offers fabulous city views. On the way in 2015: a coastal Italian menu at Sessanta restaurant, part of a collaboration with New York City restaurateur John McDonald of Lure Fishbar and Bowery Meat Company.
