In the process of upgrading its business-class accommodations on its Boeing 737 Max 8 fleet, SilkAir selected a provider for new lie-flat seating.
The upgrades will begin next year and bring lie-flat seating from Thompson Aero Seating to the aircraft’s business class in a staggered, forward-facing layout. SilkAir already has five of the aircraft in its operational fleet, and 32 more in production. The seats will be retrofitted onto the finished aircraft and will come built in to the new ones.
The upgrade plans, announced in May 2018, are intended to bring SilkAir closer in terms of product quality to Singapore Airlines in preparation for the merge of the two companies.
Upgrades also include seatback entertainment, but no provider has been selected yet.
