With Tony Chi’s interior designs, Andaz 5th Avenue has the feel of a New York City apartment. We have redefined the arrival experience so guests feel like they are being welcomed into a home; our friendly hosts use tablet PCs to check in guests in the comfort of our lounge or in the guestroom. Hosts also assist with carrying bags or providing tips about the city. If guests are in a hurry, our hosts can encode a room key on the way to the elevator. Guests with more time can enjoy a complimentary coffee or glass of wine in the lounge.

Our guestrooms include footbaths (New York is a walking city, and there is nothing better than soaking tired feet after a long day), complimentary nonalcoholic minibar items and snacks, free Internet and free local telephone calls. The views of New York’s icons are unmatched — the Empire State Building, New Year’s Eve Times Square Ball, Fifth Avenue and the New York Public Library are visible from many guestrooms and public spaces.

When it comes to food and beverage options, we collaborate with local farmers for the best of the Hudson Valley and use local purveyors, such as Katz’s Delicatessen and Sullivan Street Bakery, for a truly local experience. On the ground floor, the 38-seat restaurant offers Blue Bottle Coffee and local foods. The bar in the cellar has handcrafted cocktails and a speakeasy feel. We serve great wines, but only offer 40 bottles and 20 wines by the glass — wonderful, unique wines at great price points.

The lounge has an open feel, with high ceilings and intimate spaces for relaxing, checking in, enjoying a glass of wine or meeting friends. Through the corner entrance on Fifth Avenue is the shop, where we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and offer coffee and pastries to go. Large windows bring in a great deal of natural light and offer the opportunity to watch the city and its people.

At our meeting space, Apartment 2E, people feel as if they’re entertaining in someone’s home. It has a kitchen, bar, den and studio spaces. The kitchen is the heart of the space, where guests can interact with our chefs as if they were throwing a party at home.
