From Feb. 11–21, Abu Dhabi will celebrate the annual Qasr Al Hosn Festival with a program dedicated to honoring the United Arab Emirates’ rich culture and history. Qasr Al Hosn fort is the symbolic birthplace of Abu Dhabi, capital of the UAE, and housed the ruling family for centuries; the fort hosts the annual celebration of the traditions and cultures of Abu Dhabi.
The 2015 festival will focus on the fort’s conservation process and its former functions, with never-before-open-to-the-public access to the inner fort and National Consultative Council Chamber. Alongside the festival, a Qasr Al Hosn exhibition will launch, narrating the significance of the fort and its historical context.
The Qasr Al Hosn festival will be a lively hub of visual and performing arts, traditional workshops and cultural and interactive learning experiences. In addition, it will feature the homecoming of National Pavilion, the UAE’s exhibition from the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale Di Venezia; a music program; specially-commissioned artworks by Emirati artists; and a cultural experience exhibition.
