Based on a list compiled by AirlineRatings.com, Qantas Airways was named the world’s safest airline for 2020. This annual preview takes data from 405 airlines and audits incident records, profitability, age of fleets and safety initiatives.
For the second-consecutive year, the Australian airline came out on top with AirlineRatings.com citing the airline’s 99 years of flying and impressive record of industry “firsts” and safety initiatives as major factors for its high scores. Qantas was one of the first airlines to employ real-time monitoring of its engines using satellite communications, which enables them to notice problems before they grow into dangerous situations.
Following Qantas, the top 10 safest airlines for 2020 are Air New Zealand, EVA Air, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Alaska Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways and Virgin Australia. Among budget airlines, the safest for 2020 are Air Arabia, Flybe, Frontier, HK Express, IndiGo, JetBlue, Volaris, Vueling, WestJet and Wizz Air.
