Pure Adventures is rolling into the United States with a new roster of self-guided cycling tours. Already well-known for its cycling tours in Europe, Pure Adventures is focusing on bringing its signature blend of top-of-the-line travel planning and execution to iconic destinations in the American West.

Pure Adventures is focusing first on the Southwest for early winter through early spring adventures. Two- to six-day tours include itineraries in the Sonoran Desert around Scottsdale, Ariz., through the Red Rocks of Sedona, Ariz. and Death Valley, Calif.

A sample itinerary for a guided or self-guided bicycle tour in the Sonoran Desert includes self-paced cycling and catered wilderness camping. Guides take care of setting up the camp (including menus and ingredients for self-prepared meals), supporting rides and shuttling participants to trail heads all over the valley. Local experts will enhance the experience by taking care of the camp chores, providing entertaining natural history interpretation, plus riding tips for anyone interested in expanding their skills.

Guests transfer from Scottsdale to McDowell Sonoran Preserve where they are fitted with bikes. The first ride is a raucous descent down the gradual east slope of the McDowell Mountains before rolling into a well-appointed base camp. Day two covers the McDowell Mountain Regional Park’s single track created just for mountain bikers. On day three, cyclists move to another part of the desert before heading to the Black Canyon on day four and back to Scottsdale on day five.
