Picasso’s first studio on Passeig de Colom in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter has newly reopened as The Serras, a member of Design Hotels. The Neo-Classical façade designed by Francesc Daniel Molina remains intact, but the addition of luxury, light-filled accommodations and stellar dining by Michelin-starred chef Marc Gascons is definitely new. There’s even a Picasso Suite, where the artist painted his famous Ciencia y Caridad.
Each of the 28 guestrooms and suites are fitted with balconies, smart HD TV, wireless sound systems, Hypnos mattresses, Hansgrohe showers, Malin & Goetz amenities, and an elegant, locally inspired design created by Spanish designer Eva Martinez. The rooftop terrace provides stunning views of the Mediterranean and the splashy, newly renovated Marina of Port Vell. The hotel is an easy walk from Las Ramblas and Soho House Barcelona.
