Pampered In Seattle

Field-to-forest treatments are the theme at award-winning Cedarbrook Lodge’s new spa, set to open in September. Northwest signature botanicals including cedar, spruce and dogwood are utilized in massages and body therapies. Try one of the Rainwater Hydrotherapy Remedies: after choosing from cedar, calendula, whispering pine, sweet almond, lemon, lavender or pure honey, you’ll receive a full-body exfoliation that includes a rainwater rinse and smoothing application of finishing cream. Especially for men, the Root and Rock therapy begins with a gingerroot body buff, followed by a Brookstone Massage with heated local stones.

The lodge, located in a tranquil setting on 18 acres of reclaimed wetlands just a short drive from downtown Seattle, received gold-level certification this year by Elite Meetings International. Don’t miss dinner at Copperleaf Restaurant & Bar, named one of the city’s Top 10 best restaurants by Gayot for 2014. Executive Chef Mark Bodinet’s farm-to-table vision showcases the best local ingredients such as Neah Bay halibut and Sitka Bay king salmon, along with a vegetarian tasting menu. In the bar, settle in for one of the Homegrown Cocktails inspired by local gardens. Try George & His Tree (Anthem Dry Cherry Cider, FinnRiver black currant brandy and Bittercube Cherry Bark Vanilla Bitters) and Mocha Frio (Rain City Drip Coffee Liqueur, 360 Double Chocolate Vodka, espresso sugar and cream).

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
