One&Only officially made its milestone debut in the United States — along with marking its first alpine resort and community of private homes — with One&Only Moonlight Basin, now open. Located in Big Sky, Montana, two private lakes anchor the resort, housed within the Moonlight Basin community on 240 secluded acres bordered by more than 17,000 acres of permanently protected land.

“Bringing One&Only to the United States is a milestone we’ve long dreamed of and there’s no place more breathtaking to make our debut than Big Sky, Montana,” said Mark Kirby, president, One&Only. “With One&Only Moonlight Basin we celebrate wild beauty, bold design, authentic connection, and endless adventure, honoring the heart and soul of Montana all year round. This is the start of an exciting new chapter for us as we continue our strategic expansion into the market.”

One&Only Moonlight Basin sits an hour from Bozeman, Montana, and adjacent to Yellowstone National Park, offering alpine-chic rooms, suites, cabins and Private Homes, each designed to honor Montana’s incredible vistas.

One&Only Moonlight Basin was intentionally designed as a low-rise development, allowing nature to take center stage. Local materials and artwork can be found throughout the resort, designed by world-renowned architect Tom Kundig of Olson Kundig.

The resort’s Main Lodge, East Lodge and West Lodge boast guestrooms, interconnecting family rooms and king suites with separate living areas. The Big Sky Suite features a wraparound terrace with an outdoor soaking tub. Freestanding cabins offer additional space and seclusion, with private outdoor soaking tubs and seating areas beside a cozy fire pit. The four- to six-bedroom Private Homes boast indoor and outdoor living spaces complete with fire pits, hot tubs, gourmet kitchens and convenient garage access.

Executive Chef Matt Dahlkemper leads the culinary at One&Only Moonlight Basin. American comfort food meets alpine cuisine at The Landing, while ranch-to-table delicacies are served at Wildwood. Japanese restaurant Akira Back brings bold flavors. Dear Josephine is an intimate cocktail bar inspired by female bootlegger and moonshiner of the late 1800s, Josephine Doody. Moonshack is a speakeasy-style cabin serving fine whiskeys and a menu of 25 cigars from around the world. A grab-and-go serves coffee and pastries, and Montana-Mexican fare and cocktails are available poolside.

An all-season destination, the resort offers plenty of outdoor adventure and activity, including a ski tuning center; Neo Life Boutique, a one-stop shop for gear and adventure outfitting; the heated One&Only Gondola to transport guests from the resort to Big Sky Resort’s Madison Base in five minutes; more than 15 miles of on-property groomed and ungroomed trails for guided snowshoeing, fat tire biking and Nordic skiing; an intricate trail network for guided hiking and mountain biking; and two private alpine lakes for fishing and stand-up paddle board rentals.

Other options include fly fishing on the Madison River; equestrian trail rides; guided tours and wildlife safaris at Yellowstone National Park; stargazing in the resort’s private Observatory; the KidsOnly club; and 17,000-square-foot One&Only Spa with eight treatment rooms, steam and sauna facilities, an elevated oxygen bar, an indoor lap pool, onsen soaking tub and cold plunge, a second-floor fitness center, an outdoor tennis court and an outdoor yoga deck.

“Bringing One&Only Moonlight Basin to life has been an extraordinary journey made possible by an equally extraordinary team and the unwavering support of the Big Sky community,” said Serge Ditesheim, general manager, One&Only Moonlight Basin. “From the architects and craftspeople to our dedicated colleagues, every individual shares a deep respect for this land. Together we have created a resort that honors and celebrates Montana’s wild splendor and community while setting a new benchmark for alpine ultra-luxury hospitality.”

With enforced building codes dictated by the original Najdi villages of the region, it also serves as a more relaxed alternative to Riyadh’s futuristic downtown core.
