Newly opened in Frisco, Texas, Omni PGA Frisco Resort invites golf enthusiasts to settle in to one of 500 plush guestrooms or 10 four-bedroom ranch houses and enjoy a relaxing stay.
There’s plenty to do when you’re ready. Along with four glittering pools, there are soothing treatments and therapies at Mokara Spa; a variety of entertainment and high-end retail therapy; and the resort’s stars, two championship golf courses designed by architects Beau Welling and Gil Hanse.

Fields Ranch East is an 18-hole, 72-par course by Gil Hanse offering tactical variety integrated with the property’s stunning natural features. Beau Welling’s Fields Ranch West is an alternative for players who’d like to work on honing their skills. This 18-hole, 72-par course has spacious fairways that are 75 yards on average and ideal for all levels.
You don’t have to be pro level to appreciate the design at the property’s other play options. Beginners can get comfortable at The Swing, a 10-hole, par-3 short course lighted for night play; and on The Dance Floor, a two-acre natural grass putting course.
The resort is also home to the first Lounge by Topgolf in North Texas, complete with Swing Suite Technology and simulated gaming experiences. For top-level coaching, club fitting and personalized on-site experiences for all levels, there’s also the PGA Coaching Center.

In addition, the property offers more than 127,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space. The 5,000-square-foot Panther Creek Pavilion connects to an event lawn and patio. Inside spaces include the 22,000-square-foot Ryder Cup Ballroom and 11,500-square-foot Wanamaker Ballroom.
“This first-of-its-kind resort marks an exciting milestone for Omni Hotels & Resorts,” said Jeff Smith, vice president and managing director, Omni PGA Frisco Resort. “It’s an ambitious concept where we get to showcase the best of Texas while casting a spotlight on Frisco as a unique destination experience for visitors and locals alike.”
Among the 13 restaurant and bar options are Trick Rider, where dry-aged steaks and seafood are in the spotlight; The Apron Kitchen + Bar; and Toast & Tee coffee shop. Just beyond the main building, guests will find the Monument Realty PGA District, home to the Ice House communal beer garden, Ryder Cup Grille, Lounge by Topgolf sports bar and Margaret’s Cones & Cups.

Sep 23, 2023When the Sun Goes Down, the Party Begins on Mykonos
There is something magical about sipping a glass of local wine while watching the sun slip into the Aegean Sea as the afterglow tinges traditional, white-washed Cycladic houses with glorious shades of rose, purple and gold. Ancient Greeks believed Helios, the Sun God, caused sunsets by driving his fiery chariot into the sea. Standing at water’s edge in Mykonos, watching the sky slowly turn from purple to inky black, you almost believe it.

Sep 22, 2023Cruise Alaska for Awe-Inspiring Adventures to Delight All Ages
I hadn’t even made it to my first cup of coffee when I got an early phone call from my sister, who lives two time zones away. “OMG, Kristy, Patsy Cline came on twice while I was driving the kids to school today,” she laughed. “You know what that means, right?” We both gasped and then instantly began singing the lyrics to “La Bamba,” an inside joke we’d shared since our family’s Alaskan cruise decades ago when we, unintentionally, won the ship’s karaoke contest among a sea of Patsy Cline tributes.

Located in the heart of Houston’s Theatre District, the recently renovated Lancaster Hotel originally opened in 1926. The classic interior with an abundance of natural light floods the two-story lobby. A shimmering chandelier and elegant marble floors juxtapose nicely with the contemporary art displayed on the salon staircase wall.

Sep 15, 2023Beyond the Beach: See Hawai’i’s Diverse Verdant and Volcanic Landscapes on an Island-Hopping Cruise
Midway Atoll is the end of the Hawai‘ian Islands, literally. This is the ultimate fate of these low, sandy islets ringing a lagoon: Eventually these last remnants of a once large volcanic island will sink beneath the waves, completing a story that began 1,500 miles away. Midway, though not easy to get to, occasionally features in cruise itineraries. Holland America Line’s Westerdam offers a rare chance to glimpse the remotest of all the Hawai‘ian Islands with a scheduled stop in October 2024. You can still see the relics of the famous World War II battle here as well as a million nesting albatrosses and other seabirds.
