An old church in the eclectic Washington, D.C. neighborhood of Adams Morgan is now the District’s newest boutique hotel.
The Line joined two other properties of the same name in Los Angeles and Austin, but in D.C., the hotel is in an area known for late nights, global cuisine and an artsy atmosphere. Offering 220 guestrooms, the hotel attracts tourists and locals thanks to its three restaurants, coffee shop and bar.
The hotel’s first restaurant, Brothers and Sisters, serves one-time meals and 24-hour room service, while James Beard Award–winning chef Spike Gjerde leads A Rake’s Progress. It’s standing room only at Spoken English, the hotel’s third eatery, where sake and Asian street food are on the menu.
The décor inside the guestrooms and common areas hark back to the church’s original aesthetic from its inception in 1912, with hardwood floors, original pews that serve as lobby seating and a domed, Neoclassical ceiling adorned with Ionic columns.
