Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship Encore is nearing completion after finishing its first sailing in open water.
Anyone who follows the cruise industry can tell you the timeline between a ship announcement and when it sails with passengers is a lengthy one — taking years and many different milestones. Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship Encore recently passed another major milestone when it departed Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany to sail toward its next destination.
In the last days of September, the ship began the journey to the Netherlands with initial crewmembers onboard to begin preparing in earnest for the first guests who will board this month.
The new ship is nearly 1,100 feet long and can accommodate 3,998 passengers. The ship has begun its three-week journey to Miami, where Kelly Clarkson will christen the vessel. The ship will begin seven-day trips to the Caribbean Nov. 24.
“Today we celebrate a huge milestone for our history-making ship,” said Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer, Norwegian Cruise Line. “Now is when the anticipation truly begins to build.“
Like many other Norwegian ships in this class, the Encore will have award-winning entertainment, dining and amenities.
