Most U.S. Travelers To Ireland Spend Their Time In The Republic Of Ireland. What Will Entice Them To Northern Ireland?

Currently, there is only one direct flight from the United States into Northern Ireland, but I would like to remind people flying into Dublin that Northern Ireland is only an hour away by road or rail. Northern Ireland’s golf product is a big attraction for U.S. travelers and continues to grow. Genealogy is also an important attraction, as travelers want to learn about their ancestral ties to Northern Ireland. I believe we are seeing more people venture to Northern Ireland because it is an area where many have not traveled before; and they want to explore our rich heritage, culture and great scenery.

Elaborate On The Golfing Opportunities In Northern Ireland, Which Have Been Highly Publicized.

Northern Ireland is home to some of the world’s greatest links courses. Interest from international travelers is rising, and we have gained a lot of exposure for the region as a result. We have had great success hosting major golf competition, and we are really working to bring more events to Northern Ireland. Golfers should have high expectations for the scenery, as our most famous courses, including Royal Portrush, Castlerock, Ballycastle and the new Lough Erne course, are located in the most beautiful areas of the country. Royal County Down has been a mecca for golfers for years, and new courses further the experience.

Are There Values To Be Found When Traveling To Northern Ireland?

Yes, absolutely. Getting to Northern Ireland is very affordable, and visitors can expect costs on the ground to be reasonable, offering great value. Hotels, such as The Merchant Hotel and The Fitzwilliam, hold 5-star ratings and are often recognized for their superb service and great value. However, our main strength lies in the people of Northern Ireland, our “natural resources.” They offer quality service to visitors and look forward to welcoming them to Northern Ireland. We believe once people experience Belfast and other parts of Northern Ireland, not only will they be surprised, but they will want to come back for more.

Tell Our Readers About Your Career In Politics And Tourism.

I began my career in 2003, when I was elected into the Northern Ireland Assembly, representing the Fermanagh and South Tyrone constituency. In 2007, I became minister of the environment, when I began working on tourism issues and handling matters involving environmental planning and the natural heritage of Northern Ireland. I was appointed minister of enterprise, trade and investment in 2008. I assumed my current position as tourism minister of Northern Ireland in January 2010. Today, I work at creating partnerships with other regions while strengthening tourism and awareness of Northern Ireland.

What Maui Visitors Need to Know

There’s a lot happening on the beautiful island of Maui and recovery from the devastating fires in Lahaina is underway. Among happy events is a gorgeous cultural redesign of all the suites and villas at Fairmont Kea Lani, plus the opening of the resort’s Hale Kukuna — a 2,000-square-foot cultural center that focuses on sharing Hawai’ian culture, traditions and history, with the goal of a reciprocal sharing of ‘ike (knowledge) and mo’olelo (stories) that link the island’s storied past and vibrant present.

Explore Portugal on a Wine Tasting Tour with a Touch of History

All it takes is one glance at the grounds of Quinta Dona Maria, which includes a grand villa and surrounding gardens, to realize wine tasting in Portugal comes with a good dose of history. The vineyard is located in Estremoz, just northeast of the first-century Roman ruins found in Evora. In 1718 King João V built this estate for his lover, Dona Maria. When she died, the current owner’s ancestors purchased the land and have been making wine ever since. Taste the wine, which is terrific, especially the full-bodied red Dona Maria Grand Reserve. Then venture inside a building that stores large amphora vases, including one dating back to the 1200s.
