Arrival/Check-In: My visit to the NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding came just a few weeks after the hotel’s reopening, unveiling its new, modern feel. The lobby was buzzing with guests, dispersed throughout its various seating areas; the hum in the air may have been due to the next evening’s Real Madrid fútbol match, as the hotel is on the same block as Bernabeu Stadium and many were in town to witness the match-up. Despite arriving before designated check-in time, I found my room was ready.
Guest Quarters: My guestroom was gorgeous, and the freshness of it was as evident as the warming sun shining through the large windows. I liked the fact that the desk faced the wall of windows, affording business travelers a great view to enjoy as they answer emails. A small table flanked the desk. The updated décor featured a soothing white and silver-gray palette with pops of purple. Upon entering, the bathroom lies to the left, separated from the room by a glass panel with shutters that could be opened or closed for privacy. The shower, enormous and lush, had my favorite feature — a rainfall showerhead. A long bench and TV/minibar unit led the way into the bedroom; across from the TV sat the king-sized bed with a small end table on either side. A gray armchair provided additional seating.
Services/Amenities: Here is where the hotel really stands out. While not open 24 hours, the fitness center is impressive — large, with the latest equipment and personal training services available. Locals can purchase monthly memberships. A spa and paddle courts cap off the wellness offerings.
I enjoyed an impressive breakfast buffet at Praga the morning of my departure and a late-night cocktail in the lobby bar. I’m disappointed to have missed the opportunity to dine in the other on-site outlets — Domo, mentored by acclaimed chef Paco Roncera and featuring one of Spain’s most prestigious bartenders, Diego Cabrera; DiverXO, serving the innovative cuisine of David Muñoz, currently changing the face of Spanish gastronomy; and 99 Sushi Bar.
With 32 meeting rooms, there are plenty of options for hosting on-site events, business conferences and more. The NH Collection Eurobuilding offers only the latest in technology.
The Experience: A Madrid institution since the building opened in 1973, the hotel is reclaiming its former glory with the recent renovation. I only wish my one-night stay was longer.

May 31, 2023Homer and Janet by Homer Review
The Marais District, covering swaths of Paris’ 3rd and 4th arrondissments, has a distinctively gritty glamour that reveals it to be one of the city’s great incubators for new French food, fashion and lifestyle trends. It is here Moïse Sfez took on the challenge of creating street food establishments Homer in 2017 and Janet by Homer in 2022, doing it in such a way they both transcend the novelty of being regional American comfort food offered at stylized lunch counters matching up with New England lobster shacks and New York delis. Overwhelming local response and Sfez winning the 2018 Lobster Roll World’s Championship title in Portland, Maine, solidified him as a Paris restaurateur and one of France’s hottest culinary stars.
