Daily

Amtrak is celebrating the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary with a series of new travel offers designed to highlight the best of the parks.

Amtrak Vacations is rolling out more than 30 travel specials featuring six national parks, including Glacier National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park and Crater Lake National Park.

The National Park packages also provide options for additional tours, outdoor activities and accommodations, with activities like tours of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon or a Glacier Boat Cruise in Glacier National Park.

“We are thrilled to support the National Park foundation and do our part to preserve the National Park for future generations. To help fund park education programs, initiatives to create awareness and preservation of the National Parks, the National Park Foundation will receive a portion of revenue from any Amtrak Vacations National Parks program,” said  president Frank Marini, president, Yankee Leisure Group Inc., in a statement.

National Park Week runs from April 16 through 24 this year.

The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
