The first U.S. hospitality brand to do so, Marriott will now provide only U.S.-made towels and bath mats, made using 100 percent U.S.-grown cotton. After the initiative is complete, these products will be provided in 3,000 properties in the United States and will eliminate more than 300 ocean container shipments annually.
“We believe our guests will appreciate knowing that even simple items they use every day in our hotels represent progress for the U.S. economy. We also hope this sends a message to other businesses that buying locally can make business sense,” said J.W. “Bill” Marriott, Jr., executive chairman, Marriott International.
“As a global company based in the United States, we’re proud to be the first hospitality company to commit to providing our guests with ‘Made in USA’ bathroom towels in our U.S. hotels,” said Arne Sorenson, president and CEO, Marriott.
