This year continues to be a big year for expanded and brand-new routes around the world. From domestic carriers to international airlines, travelers are even more connected thanks to these new routes slated to debut this year and beyond.
Beginning this October, United Airlines will be the only U.S. airline to offer non-stop flights to Marrakesh, Morocco (RAK), and Cebu, Philippines (CEB). For the first time ever, United Airlines will fly nonstop to Medellín, Colombia (MDE). Flights from Newark (EWR) to Marrakesh begins Oct. 24, while Oct. 27 marks the debut of flights between Tokyo Narita (NRT) and Cebu, as well as Houston (IAH) and Medellín.
In one of the biggest expansions this year, Breeze Airways announces 18 new routes, including service from five new cities, including Newark (EWR); Daytona Beach, Florida (DAB); Erie, Pennsylvania (ERI); South Bend, Indiana (SBN); and Wilmington, North Carolina (ILM).
New Breeze Airways routes include flights to and from these new cities to Hartford, Connecticut (BDL); New York-Westchester County (HPN); Akron-Canton, Ohio (CAK); Charleston, West Virginia (CRW); and Orlando, Florida (MCO).
While Delta Air Lines paused flights between New York (JFK) and Tel Aviv (TLV) through Aug. 31 for customers who booked travel to or from the Israeli city before Aug. 14, the airline added new routes to Tulum (TQO) and Mazatlán (MZT), Mexico. Beginning this winter, Delta Air Lines offers service between Detroit (DTW) and Tulum, as well as Los Angeles (LAX) and Mazatlán.
Additionally, Delta Air Lines expands service with Aeromexico. Starting Nov. 2 from Atlanta (ATL) and Dec. 21 from Los Angeles, Aeromexico launches new flights to Manzanillo (ZLO). Other recently added flights include Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Tulum and Mazatlán.
Fiji Airways increases connectivity to North America with the launch of its first-ever non-stop service between Dallas (DFW) and Nadi (NAN). Set to begin Dec. 10, this 13-hour flight will operate three times per week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
On top of American Airlines’ recent announcement of new routes from New York’s LaGuardia to Florida and New Orleans, the airline also expands its network with new service to La Romana, Dominican Republic (LRM), beginning this December. This destination will be reachable from Miami (MIA).
This December, Alaska Airlines increases its services, adding routes to both warm-weather and snowy destinations. On Dec. 3, the airline begins service from Fresno (FAT) to Guadalajara (GDL). Dec. 20 marks the beginning of Alaska Airlines flights from both San Diego (SAN) and Seattle (SEA) to Vail, Colorado (EGE). These flights will operate three times a week through March 16, 2025.
Alaska Airlines also launches new flights between Boise (BOI) and Santa Ana (SNA) on Dec. 19, as well as between Sacramento (SMF) and Boise and Orlando (MCO) starting in early January. Alaska Airlines goes international with non-stop service to Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR), from both San Francisco (SFO) and Seattle (SEA), slated to launch Dec. 21. And Jan. 8 sees the start of service between New York City (JFK) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR).
As of Aug. 16, Taiwan-based carrier STARLUX added its third U.S. city to its route map. STARLUX now connects Seattle with Taipei (TPE). Flights from Seattle operate Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
