A new law signed by U.S. President Donald Trump last month adds a number of traveler protections and employees.

The new Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill doesn’t include any new regulations related to airline fees, as some advocates hoped, but it does ban “bumping” of passengers already seated on airplanes. It also authorizes the FAA to regulate seat sizes and requires airlines to issue refunds to travelers for services they didn’t receive.

On the employee side, the bill sets minimum standards for flight attendant rest times and adds a consumer advocate hotline at the FAA where travelers can lodge complaints.

The bill also bans e-cigarette use and cellphone voice calls during flights; allows the FAA to require early boarding of pregnant women and checking of strollers; prohibits the storing of live animals in overhead bins; and clears the way for the FAA to investigate whether airlines use weather as an excuse for flight delays actually caused by other factors.

Finally, the law establishes an Office of Spaceports within the FAA, which would consider whether supersonic flights should be allowed in U.S. airspace.
