American Express is opening a new LAX Centurion Lounge, marking the 12th in the company’s network. The company signed the deal to open the lounge in April. It will be located after security in the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX and accessible to Terminals 4–8.

The lounge opens in 2019 and includes a tranquility area with bright and dimly lit areas, allowing travelers to adjust to new time zones. There’s also a spa and family room, along with other amenities unique to the brand, including a custom wall installation.

Guests have access to chef-crafted menus, and sommelier Anthony Giglio and mixologist Jim Meehan curated menus with premium wines and specialty cocktails.

The lounge provides workspaces with high-speed internet, power outlets and private noise-buffering stations. Any guests who are also American Express Member Services Professionals will have access to on-site card- and travel-related services.

American Express is also opening Centurion Lounges in New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Denver International Airport next year. The company recently expanded in Asia, with its first opening in Hong Kong International Airport last October.

“Our Platinum Card Members regularly travel for work and fun, so we’re excited to soon offer our Platinum Card Members a place to relax, reboot and refresh in the busiest terminal at LAX,” said Josh McKay, vice president and general manager of global benefits and services, American Express.

Access to the lounge is free for Platinum Card and Centurion members who can bring up to two travel companions (or their immediate family for Centurion Members) with them at no extra charge. Additional guest passes are available for purchase by Platinum Card or Centurion members for $50 per person.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
