The 47th season of Lincoln Center’s consistently popular Mostly Mozart Festival gets underway on July 27 with a free preview, and wraps up on Aug. 24. This season’s works explore the lineage between Mozart and Beethoven, and several concerts will feature works by both composers.
More than 50 events are scheduled throughout the summer, with highlights including the return of the Budapest Festival Orchestra with a performance of Mozart’s comic opera Le nozze di Figaro Aug. 11, 13 and 15. In addition to world-class concerts and opera, the season rounds out with pre-concert lectures and recitals, premieres of notable new works and a screening of director Phil Grabsky’s film In Search of Beethoven. Six late-night candlelight performances will take place in the intimate setting of the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, including an Aug. 3 performance by the Calder Quartet, and an Aug. 6 performance by the Leipzig String Quartet.
