Daily

A new report shows the country’s most miserable airports: Newark (EWR), Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and LaGuardia (LGA) rank near the top of the list.

ValuePenguin.com looked at the U.S.’ busiest airports and ranked each based on the overall misery travelers endure there.

The findings were based on data from 84 American airports having at least 10,000 departures annually, and focused on six areas: flight cancellation rate, flight delay rate, tarmac delay rate, average length of delays, severe delay rate (those lasting an hour or longer) and security wait time during rush hour.

The airports were ranked with scores between zero (worst) and 100 (best), according to metrics compiled from the collective data.

Based on these criteria, the nation’s worst airports include:

  1. Newark Liberty International: Newark, New Jersey
  2. Chicago O’Hare International: Chicago, Illinois
  3. LaGuardia Airport: New York, New York
  4. Dallas/Fort Worth International: Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas
  5. Boston Logan International: Boston, Massachusetts

The least miserable airports can all be found in the western United States.:

  1. Kahului Airport: Kahului, Hawai’i
  2. Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International: San Jose, California
  3. Daniel K. Inouye International: Honolulu, Hawai’i
  4. Spokane International: Spokane, Washington
  5. Portland International: Portland, Oregon

Hostería del Marqués Review

The small colonial town of Valladolid in the center of the Yucatan peninsula is easy to see in a day or two, but when you’re not roaming the streets, snapping photos of the brightly colored houses and buildings, swimming in the nearby cenote or admiring the architecture of the 16th-century convent of San Bernardino de Siena, consider passing time in the multipurpose Hostería del Marqués, a hotel that offers more than just lodging.

Eco-Friendly Tours with REI Adventures, Aqua Expeditions and More

HIKING ALONG A PATH THROUGH THE FOREST, the only sounds I heard were the wind rustling through the leaves, the flow of a distant waterfall and, from time to time, the soft sounds of chatter from the others in my group. Missing were the sounds of traffic rushing by, car horns and the din of the everyday world in which most of us live. On this part of the Japan Hiking – Kumano Kodo & Nakasendo trip with REI Adventures, just the eight of us were on the trail, not another human in sight. An eco-adventure at its best, and it was glorious.

The Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland Review

Iceland’s otherworldly landscape made the perfect backdrop for the beloved Game of Thrones, which did some filming here. Iceland’s angry volcanoes, unbridled seas, ubiquitous rainbows, explosive geysers, waterfalls, glaciers, lava fields and jaw-dropping Northern Lights make it like no destination on earth.
