Recently named Best Golf Resort in Asia Pacific at the Asia Pacific Golf Summit, Mission Hills Resort at Haikou, Hainan, in China expects to open a fantasy golf course with a giant panda bear, a replica of the Great Wall of China and Mayan ruins and man-made gale-force winds in 2014. Replacing one of the existing 10 courses, the new course will feature a standard golf layout with several twists, such as an 88-yard-wide noodle bowl with 55-yard-wide chopsticks instead of water. In addition to the fantasy golf course, Mission Hills is also constructing a new complex on China’s southern tropical island of Hainan with plans to open in late 2014. The new complex will include Hard Rock, Renaissance and The Ritz-Carlton hotels, an entertainment and restaurant district, a movie-themed town, 300 boutique shops and ice-skating and bowling facilities.
