In an announcement last week, Marriott International announced its intention to expand its U.A.E. portfolio of properties to more than 80 hotels by 2023.
The international hospitality brand reached a milestone in 2018 with more than 11 properties opening in the nation this year alone. The openings represent the addition of more than 2,600 rooms added during the calendar year. By the end of the year, Marriott International will have 59 properties in the country.
“Our success in the Middle East stems from our long-established presence in the market and the value we deliver to our owner-partners. It is the trust owners have in Marriott International, combined with our differentiated brands and collective strength of our global platform, that has put us in a position to further expand our portfolio in the country and strengthen guest loyalty,” said Arne Sorenson, president and chief executive officer, Marriott International.
The United Arab Emirates currently hosts 16 Marriott International brands, more than 50 per cent of which are upscale brands.
