As of the beginning of the year, Mandarin Oriental took over Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. The property is now the second Mandarin Oriental hotel in the United Arab Emirates, following Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai, opened last year.
Renovations of Emirates Palace are scheduled for the next two years, during which the hotel will remain open. Renovations include significant changes to guestrooms, dining and drinking options and other spaces. Currently, the property offers nearly 400 guestrooms and suites, 40 meeting rooms, 12 restaurants and bars, an auditorium, ballroom, marina, two swimming pools, spa and two fitness centers. Emirates Palace sits in the heart of Abu Dhabi and caters to both leisure and business travelers. Guests enjoy easy access from the property to the Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi International Airport and Dubai Airport.
