I loosened tight muscles in the yoga studio, increased cardio at the 24/7 fitness center, swam laps in the saltwater pool and finished the morning regimen with a dry and hot sauna at the luxury spa. For a clear head and sharp mind, I made my way to the Club Lounge overlooking the CN Tower and Lake Ontario with sweeping scenes of boat traffic and the city’s island airport. Breakfast is self-serve and ideal for a grueling itinerary. I advance-booked the hotel’s house car, which chauffeured me a few blocks for meetings and an off-site lunch. But before I knew it, it was time to return for an afternoon meeting. I was welcomed back and made my way to the DEQ Terrace and Lounge, the hotel’s sleek lounge bar which offers a choice of settings: the seasonal terrace devoted to Cuban food and drink specialties, or inside tucked away by an elegant, cozy, private seating area for a fireside chat. I checked the time as speckled sunlight hit the patio chaises in a quiet nook of the terrace and decided this would be the ultimate five o’clock meeting spot.
