José Andrés and his ThinkFoodGroup returns to Los Angeles with the opening of three new restaurants in Downtown Los Angeles at The Grand LA and Conrad Los Angeles. The Grand LA completes Frank Gehry’s vision for Downtown, which also includes the Gehry-designed Walt Disney Concert Hall.
In late 2022, Bazaar Meat by José Andrés will open as a stand-alone restaurant in The Grand LA, the city’s newest destination for shopping, dining and entertainment. The Grand LA will be a 24/7 spot for residents and visitors with 164,000 square feet of retail space, restaurants, more than 400 residences and the Conrad Los Angeles.
“I love Los Angeles! It is where we debuted The Bazaar years ago and since then we’ve evolved with many new stories to share through food,” said Andrés. “This city welcomed me so warmly when we first opened, and I can’t wait to return to give Angelenos and the world an exciting new destination for dining in Downtown LA.”
At the new 305-room Conrad Los Angeles, ThinkFoodGroup will debut an open-air, rooftop restaurant with a Latin- and Asian-inspired menu. There will also be a pool-side menu, featuring more light, snacking options. Classic Spanish flavors and dishes boasting California’s fresh ingredients will be on the menu at the second original concept restaurant, adjacent to the lobby bar. Both restaurants will be located on the 10th-floor arrival lobby level.
“Opening at The Grand LA is a remarkable opportunity to be a part of the evolution of Downtown LA,” said Sam Bakhshandehpour, president, ThinkFoodGroup. “It is not only a stunning setting thanks to Frank Gehry, but a fitting home to bring to life the creative vision José and our culinary team has for these distinct destinations.”
Since Cheval Blanc, an extraordinary, newly designed and refurbished 72-room hotel owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey, launched in September 2021, it has been the talk of the town. Le Tout-Paris remarks about its WOW factor … and the hard-to-get reservations for the 30 seats at Plenitude, the intimate, first-floor gastronomic outlet headed by chef Arnaud Donckele, who earned three Michelin stars at Cheval Blanc Saint Tropez. Reservations are also recommended for Limbar, the ground-floor bakery/café/tea shop/bar where we watched Pastry Chef Maxime Frédéric preparing desserts and an absolute must-have for dinner at Le Tout-Paris, the 7th-floor, all-day brasserie. This brightly colored space, with its raised seating and Fauve-like floor tiles and the adjacent Milanese restaurant, Langosteria, both have access to terraces facing the Seine River, with amazing views encompassing Notre Dame to the Eiffel Tower.
