Jacksonville International Airport is building a new VIP lounge, expected to open this spring. The airport is also adding a third concourse.
According to The Jacksonville Daily Record, the airport’s $1 million Club Jax is currently under construction. The lounge will cover 3,600 square feet and include relaxation and productivity areas as well as facilities for children, a bar, hot and cold food, and concierge services.
The lounge coincidentally shares a name with Club Jacksonville, also known as Club Jax, a gay bar in the city’s San Marco district.
Passengers who are Priority Pass, LoungeKey, Diners Club International and AAA members, as well as day visitors who pay a $40 entry fee, will have access.
The airport is also building a third concourse with six gates to help it absorb the 16 percent growth in passenger volume it saw in 2018. More than 6.4 million passengers used the airport last year; currently, there are two concourses and 20 gates in operation. The concourse is planned for a December 2022 opening.
Meanwhile, the airport is also undergoing upgrades to its bathrooms and food and beverage options.
