Planning a spring golf trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. with your family in tow? Make it out of this world by adding on a visit to Encounters: UFO Experience. Presented by Intergalactic Brands, the interactive experience includes a simulated alien abduction, seven themed galleries with witness accounts and artifacts, and myth-debunking information to go along with accounts of the 44 separate sightings that occurred in Myrtle Beach during 2013.
Family-friendly activities include Alien Hunter laser tag, participatory alien “autopsy,” propulsion exhibit with magnet-controlled UFO models, a guide to alien visitation reports throughout history, and a speaker series with prominent UFOlogists including Stanton Friedman, author of Flying Saucers and Science: A Scientist Investigates the Mysteries of UFOs (New Page Books, 2008). Exhibit dates are Thurs.-Sat. through May 30, and daily from May 31–Sept. 21. The UFO Experience is located across from Margaritaville at Broadway at the Beach. No worries you’ll miss it: there’s a giant flying saucer protruding from one side of the building.

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
