Earlier this month, Hyatt released plans to more than double its Canadian presence, adding 12 new properties to its current nine-property footprint.
“There is tremendous growth opportunity in this region – coming off the heels of its 150th anniversary, Canada continues to see strong levels of leisure travel, as well as an increase in corporate travel. Today’s announcement is a testament to the global appeal of Hyatt’s select service portfolio as it continues to expand worldwide and offer more choices to our guests,” said Scott Richer, vice president of real estate and development for Canada, Hyatt.
All new openings are Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties. Both brands are designed to offer seamless experiences for the modern business traveler. New openings take place over the next two years.
Two Hyatt Place properties open later this year, in Calgary, Alberta, and Mississauga, Ontario. Four Hyatt Place and two Hyatt House properties are planned for next year, the former in Brampton, Ontario; Kelowna, British Columbia; Moncton, New Brunswick; and Winnipeg, Manitoba; and the latter in Hamilton, Ontario, and Winnipeg. In 2020, three Hyatt Place properties open in Toronto and Vancouver.
