As the travel industry reacts to the COVID-19 pandemic, many travel-related businesses see a slump in sales and smaller brands are even facing potential closures if the pandemic lasts long enough. If you’re an avid traveler with favorite brands, you can still support them while safely self-isolating.

Purchase a Gift Card
One easy thing you can do (and encourage others to do as well) is to purchase a gift card. Love a certain tour provider in your favorite city? Purchase a gift certificate for a tour at a later date. Want to support a museum or similar arts and culture organization? Go ahead and buy that annual pass and get your money’s worth after things go back to normal. Don’t want to see your favorite cozy inn or boutique hotel bite the bullet due to a decline in business? Buy a gift certificate for a later stay or book a stay for the fall or winter.

Buy Merch
Most travel brands have merchandise of some kind. Go to the brand’s online store and indulge in a bit of online shopping — whether you’re purchasing the in-room toiletries offered by your favorite hotel chain or a hoodie from your favorite museum.

Leave Reviews
For those brands confident they can make it through the current slump in travel, they’re already looking to the future when travelers will be looking for providers again. You can lend them a hand by leaving a positive review on TripAdvisor or Google.

Show Your Support
Another free and easy way to support your favorite travel brands? Do so on social media. Give them a follow and a shout out and, if you have any following of your own, show them a little love with a push to your followers.

Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
