This holiday season, the 350-acre site at National Harbor transforms into a winter wonderland, replete with an estimated 2 million sparkling lights and decorations, and plenty of themed activities. You can make it a destination visit thanks to eight hotels, more than 40 restaurants and a wide range of activities. A schedule of holiday shows at Theater at MGM National Harbor includes Mannheim Steamroller Christmas on Dec. 7; The Temptations & The Four Tops on Dec. 8; and Leslie Odom, Jr. The Christmas Tour on Dec. 15.

Each evening, beginning at sunset and continuing until 9 p.m., a light show takes place every half hour at the animated, 60-foot-tall Christmas tree. On Sundays at 11:30 a.m., Movies on the Potomac brings seasonal favorites to the screen, including The Santa Clause on Dec. 8, Jack Frost on Dec. 22 and The Polar Express on Dec. 29.

If you’re on the hunt for unique, handcrafted holiday gifts, make plans to visit the Christmas Market and Holiday Craft Show Series, open each weekend through Dec. 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Located along American Way, this market includes a selection of new craftspeople and artisans each week, with a wide selection of offerings that includes textiles, personal care products, dinnerware, leather goods, metal art, home décor and pet accessories.

Ice tunnels and frozen slides are also part of the fun thanks to Gaylord National Resort’s ICE! attraction. This year’s theme is “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” with ice sculptures created by carvers from Harbin, China.

Review: Moxy NYC Chelsea

ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: The hotel was designed to blend into the New York City landscape, specifically the Chelsea Flower District on which the property sits. The iconic neon purple Moxy sign, however, beckoned to me, where I was first met with an airy atrium paying homage to the hotel’s location with vibrant plastic flowers adorning a vintage-looking floral stand. It offered the perfect photo opportunity, and I was told the installation changes regularly. While the lobby is more of a small room with check-in desks, it’s seamless, efficient and easy to navigate. The check-in desks alone are unique, hanging by dark pipes from the ceiling, swaying ever so slightly.

With the legacy of The Open at Royal Portrush still fresh, Ireland secured its place among the world’s most exceptional golf destinations. For those in search of championship courses, dramatic landscapes and renowned hospitality, the island offers an experience unlike any other.

Trace New Orleans’ Liquid Lineage at Experiential Sazerac House

In no other city are spirits and cocktails so inextricably linked than in New Orleans. Here you can sip a Vieux Carré, named for the French Quarter, while seated at a stool around the slowly revolving Carousel Bar where it was invented; or marvel at the lengthy hand-shaking required for the silky-smooth emulsification and mile-high airy foam of the Ramos Gin Fizz, an ethereal, heady drink created by Henry Ramos in 1888.

On a small coral island just 25 minutes by boat from Placencia, Belize, five villas edge the sand with not much else around. No neighbors. No noise. No check-in counters.
