Ever dream of being instantly able to understand someone in a foreign country or have someone understand you without the hassle of a language barrier? Google’s new real-time translation earbuds might be every traveler’s new best friend.
The high-tech device allows users to speak in their native language and have it translated into their language of choice. They then repeat the translation out loud to the person with whom they’re communicating. To get a response, users hand their phone to the other person and speech is translated in real time to the wireless earbuds.
Currently, the device only works with Google Pixel devices, but throughout November the headphones will be released into the wireless headphone market to work with iPhones and high-end Samsung phones.
The device strives to break down linguistic barriers between travelers and locals, forging lasting connections with the people you meet in the places you travel.
For now, the device translates 40 different languages, but that number will grow along with the functionality of the device.
