Three holographic customer service agents are being deployed at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport.
The “agents” are located at the D Gate satellite concourse, and they primarily direct travelers towards trams connecting other parts of the airport. They’re named Jennifer, Adam and Angie, and they’re virtual reality helpers located near the blue tram to Terminal 1, the red tram to Terminal 3 and the concourse information desk.
The graphics are designed by PRSONAS, a hologram company based in North Carolina. They deliver specially tailored messages to travelers with Vegas-themed lingo: “Don’t roll the dice with your baggage. Save that for the casino.” and “Don’t play the odds yet. Make sure you’re getting on the right tram.”
The holograms can interact with customers, but that feature was shut off to minimize distractions. “The novelty catches some people’s attention. If we offer multiple channels to reach more people, then we see more success,” said Christine Crews, spokesperson, McCarran International Airport.
Traveler reviews have been mixed. Most ignored the holograms while a Spanish-speaking traveler complained the instructions were in English only.
