The renowned French crystal brand, Lalique, made waves by opening a 5-star hotel in Alsace a few years ago — Villa René Lalique. The existing hotel is home to a gourmet restaurant with two Michelin stars.
The newest Lalique property is opening in the Sauternes wine region, located south of Bordeaux, and world-famous for its sweet wines. The historic property is a recognized historic monument dating to the 13th century. The château will make a comeback as a boutique luxury hotel and gourmet restaurant, scheduled to open June 23, coinciding with the 400th anniversary of Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey (the property’s original name is still being used.).
The hotel boasts a country chic style, inspired by the surrounding Sauternes landscapes and, of course, Lalique crystals are incorporated in the décor.
The small château will have 10 rooms and three suites; a wine cellar stocked with a staggering 350,000 bottles; and a gastronomic restaurant run by Chef Jérôme Schilling, the former executive chef at Villa René Lalique.
