With the autumn in full spring, now is time to start planning your fall weekend getaway.  Whether a relaxing weekend on the lake, leaf-peeping or hiking, check out these fall travel trends from vacation rental management company Vacasa.

Although travel is picking up, people are still hesitant to hit the skies: 61 percent of Gen Zers, 59 percent of millennials and just 31 percent of Boomers plan to board a plane for the first time since the pandemic.

Many travelers opt to stay grounded this fall. More than half of U.S. consumers prefer to take a road trip at 53 percent, while 41 percent would take a domestic trip within the United States, and 23 percent prefer a camping getaway.

Forty-eight percent of parents are planning on traveling with their kids this fall and a near-even 46 percent are planning to take a trip with only their partners. Forty-one percent of Americans will most likely travel for a family event, such as a birthday, and 35 percent say a family reunion would most inspire them to travel.

Despite a rise in the delta variant, more than half of Americans are planning to travel this fall, flocking to nature and open spaces. The most-booked destinations for September and October are the Outer Banks, North Carolina; Kauai, Hawai’i; Moab, Utah; and areas surrounding Acadia National Park in Maine.
