Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways announced the launch of non-stop flights to São Paulo, Brazil, the airline’s first destination in South America. The carrier operates the route between Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) and Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) three times a week with 240-seat Airbus A340-500 aircraft, featuring 12 seats in first class, 28 in business and 200 in economy. Flights depart Abu Dhabi at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and arrive in Brazil at 4:35 p.m. local time after a 15-hour, five-minute flight. The return service leaves São Paolo at 6:20 p.m. and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 4:05 p.m. after a 14-hour, 45-minute flight. The new route marks Etihad’s entry to its sixth continent.
