Northern Ireland’s new spirits trail invites travelers and locals to explore the history of the region’s distilleries and meet the makers behind Northern Ireland’s old and new spirits. The new trail, featuring 10 destinations, allows visitors and spirits enthusiasts to learn about what makes each spirit unique and special. Accompanying the trail is the Distillery Trail Passport where, at each distillery, guests can collect stamps on their passport to receive a special souvenir in the end.
Beginning at Belfast Artisan Gin School, learn to make your own gin and even bring home a bottle of your creation. The trail then continues to County Down, where five of the 10 spirits stops lie.
At the field-to-glass Echlinville Distillery, guests see how farm-grown barley is sown, grown and harvested, before being hand malted. At the end of this stop, visitors enjoy a sip or two of the distillery’s gin, whiskey or poitín, a type of Irish distilled beverage with a toffee and grainy flavor.
Visitors at Copeland Distillery hear tales of secret smugglers, battles and voyages, all while tasting the brand’s whiskey, gin and rum. The spirits trail also brings travelers to where Northern Ireland’s first craft gin was created at Rademon Estate. The estate’s gin uses wild botanicals grown in nearby fields.
Whiskey lovers can’t skip Hinch Distillery, where traditional Irish mashing processes and triple distillation show why its whiskeys are award-winning and popular. At County Down’s fifth distillery — the smallest in Northern Ireland — Killowen, visitors go deep in the Mourne Mountains to witness the brand’s age-old distilling processes and handmade artisan stills create traditional Irish whiskey.
In County Tyrone, Woodlab Distillery blends science with nature to create Symphonia gin, with unique flavor profiles. Over in County Fermanagh, Boatyard Distillery, located on the banks of Lough Erne, makes pure spirits through sustainable and organic approaches. Wild Atlantic Distillery draws inspiration from its surroundings to create delicious gin, vodka and whiskey.
The Northern Ireland spirits trail ends at perhaps the most iconic of the region’s distilleries: Bushmills Distillery. Distilling whiskey for more than 400 years, this distillery lies on the Causeway Coast and continues to be a popular destination for travelers.

May 30, 2025By-the-cabin Yachting Redefines the Cruise Experience
I wish this day could last forever!” my windswept 9-year-old exclaimed, his voice soaring over the Mediterranean. He gripped the helm of a Bali 4.6 sailing catamaran off the coast of Marseille, his sun- bleached hair whipping in the salty breeze. The scent of the sea mingled with the aroma of warm baguettes drifting from the Côte d’Azur shoreline. Our captain, a seasoned sailor, subtly adjusted course, letting my son feel the exhilarating pull of the wind against the sails. As the waves lapped against the hull, I realized this was no ordinary vacation — this was freedom, unfiltered.
