Dorchester Collection recently announced plans to manage a new hotel within Torch Tower, the highest building in Japan. Located in the heart of Tokyo, the new hotel expects to open in 2028, marking Dorchester Collection’s first-ever hotel in Asia.

‘This new hotel will become a beacon for Japan’s ultra-luxury hotel landscape and set new benchmarks. World-class architects will inspire with their symbolic design torch concept, lighting up not only the future of Tokyo and Japan but also the world,” said Christopher Cowdray, CEO, Dorchester Collection. “Tokyo has long been an integral part of our growth strategy given it is a gateway to Asia and its global significance, and to be partnering with the highly esteemed Mitsubishi Estate Co. Ltd. and Tokyo Century Corporation is a true honor. Their core values are perfectly aligned with ours given the vision of ‘a love for people, a love for the city’ and our ‘We Care’ philosophy.”

Guests will enjoy panoramic views of Tokyo Bay, Tokyo’s city center and Mount Fuji. The hotel hopes to set a new standard in the world of luxury hospitality, integrating the history and culture of the city with Dorchester Collection’s prestigious standards and quality. Torch Tower is owned by Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Century Corporation, and all companies express excitement and this new and upcoming project.

Mindfulness City in Kingdom of Bhutan Unveiled as Future Economic Hub

In front of an audience of 30,000 Kingdom of Bhutan residents and officials, His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck presented his vision for a new economic hub in Bhutan. Located between India to the south and China to the north, Bhutan is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. Bhutan came late to global tourism. It opened its borders to international visitors in 1974 and, while tourism definitely increased, residents are enduring “light” rush-hour traffic in Thimphu, its capital city, as the only Asian capital without traffic lights.
