The Red Sea Development Company in Saudi Arabia revealed its plans to carve a luxury hotel into a rock mountain — Desert Rock resort is being integrated into the mountainside, offering panoramic views of mountain canyons and a canopy of stars. Part of The Red Sea Project, TRSDC revealed a first look at Desert Rock’s designs.
“Since the inception of the Desert Rock project, creating a development that combines luxury, sustainability and an immersive experience for our guests has been at the heart of it all,” said John Pagano, CEO, TRSDC. “We cannot wait to welcome guests to enjoy a stay at this unique property.”
Desert Rock will boast 48 villas and 12 hotel suites, with a select number of rooms actually sitting within the excavated rock-scape. Guests will enter through a hidden valley between the mountains and most roads leading to the resort will follow the edge of the main wadi, providing uninterrupted views and minimizing sound and light pollution. Other state-of-the-art facilities at Desert Rock will include a spa, fitness center, dining areas and a lagoon oasis. When possible, materials used will be recycled from the site, and guests will be able to stargaze, hike and use dune buggies around the area once opened.
