Delta Air Lines started flying its new plane, the Airbus A350, on its Detroit (DTW)–Seoul (ICN) service, the first of two routes between the United States and South Korea using the company’s new wide-body plane.
“Seoul is our strategic hub in Asia and we’re delighted to bring our flagship aircraft to the market as well as enhanced customer experience and excellent operational efficiency to the route,” said Matteo Curcio, vice president for Asia Pacific, Delta.
Delta’s new plane largely replaces its older Boeing 747-400s, which the company will retire by the end of 2017. The A350 has 32 Delta One Suites with lie-flat beds and full-height doors, plus 48 Delta Premium Select seats and 226 main cabin seats.
Delta makes advances in Asia Pacific with the A350, scheduled to fly to Tokyo (HND), Seoul, Beijing (PEK) and Shanghai (PVG).
