Delta will be the first U.S. airline to receive state-of-the-art Airbus A220 aircraft as part of an effort to modernize its fleet.

The former C Series planes, A220s are narrow-body jets that offer amenities found on wide-body planes. The airline started selling seats on routes using the new plane as of last month.

The company’s inaugural flights depart Jan. 31, 2019, from Delta’s hub at New York’s LaGuardia Airport to its growing operation at Boston Logan International Airport and from LaGuardia to top business destination, Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport.

Other routes that went on sale are:

—New York (LGA) to Boston (BOS)

—New York to Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW)

—Detroit (DTW) to Dallas/Ft. Worth

—New York to Houston (IAH)

—Salt Lake City (SLC) to Dallas/Ft. Worth

—Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) to Dallas/Ft. Worth

—Houston to Detroit & Minneapolis/St. Paul

—Houston to Salt Lake City

—New York (JFK) to Dallas/Ft. Worth

Delta’s upgrade plan will replace less-efficient planes with highly-efficient ones like the A220, as well as Boeing 737-900ERs, A321s, A350s, A330-900neo and Airbus A321neo.
