Sustainability and environmental consciousness is a growing trend in the tourism industry. and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is one of the latest properties to introduce initiatives to attract ever-conscious travelers.
The property’s initiatives include partnerships with Parley for the Oceans and artist John K. Melvin to take on some of the biggest problems facing the world’s oceans.
Work with Parley for the Oceans began late summer 2019, which initially entailed giving each guest a Parley Kit upon arrival. Each kit contained a reusable stainless steel 0.7-liter Conrad x Parley co-branded water bottle and a Parley Ocean Plastic Tote Bag. Each tote bag is made of roughly five recycled plastic bottles.
The resort is also using art as a way to inspire its guests toward sustainability. The resort commissioned Melvin to create an art installation representing the goal of reducing plastic pollution among guests. The art, created with 5,500 plastic bottles and held together by coir rope and steel cable, resembles a jellyfish and serves as a visual reminder of the importance of combating climate change.
“With a mindful approach to travel, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island continues to inspire change,” said Stefano Ruzza, general manager, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. “Through creative collaborations with likeminded brands and the development of unique and educational experiences on and off property, we encourage our guests to become part of the solution as they reinforce a positive impact while traveling as well as in their daily life at home.”
SINCE ABOUT 2000, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has been the busiest airport not only in the United States but also in the world. Each year more than 100 million passengers pass through the gateway, so it only makes sense the airport continues to evolve.
The city took its name from Athena, goddess of wisdom, strategy and war, and protector of the city. The financial, political and administrative center of the country and an all-powerful city-state in antiquity, Athens is a major center of culture. A visit to the first-ever museum dedicated to Byzantium, a stroll around the National Garden and a trip to the Olympeion archaeological site will take you back through time.
DON’T EXPECT TURIN TO FIT your image of Italy. It’s Italian, all right — the evening passeggiata and a love of good food and wine are alive and well. But you’ll look in vain for medieval cobbled streets, crumbling castles and works by Michelangelo (who never set foot here). Instead, although you’ll find some Roman ruins, you’ll also find a faux medieval village, a world-class film museum and a café life that rivals Vienna’s. You and your family will have fun here.
