Kimpton Grand Roatán Resort and Spa, situated on West Bay Beach, Roatán Island, Honduras, offers a tropical retreat and a luxurious guest experience full of indulgence, relaxation and exciting adventure. Opening this summer, the resort will be a complete reimagining of the existing Grand Roatán Caribbean Resort, featuring a total of 119 guestrooms, dining options, spa treatments and more.
The Pesh, an indigenous group located in Northeast Honduras, inspired different parts of the hotel. Through work done by foreign and Honduran archaeologists, anthropologists and historians, these experts learned and uncovered much about the Pesh and their villages. Today, Kimpton Grand Roatán demonstrates its profound respect for the history, local communities and surrounding environment by celebrating the craftsmanship of local artisans and incorporating sustainably driven infrastructure.
Spearheaded by California-based Theresa Fatino Design, every space at the hotel is thoughtfully curated to blend high design with artisan touches. Local art pieces crafted on the island by locals are displayed on gallery walls and in cozy corners. Shared spaces and the spa feature hand-woven lampshades and meticulously crafted sculptures paired with exquisite cut stone.
The hotel features a wide variety of attentively designed room types, making no stay the same. Luxurious rooms on the upper floors of the main building feature plunge pools overlooking the resort, with bungalows boasting private decks with outdoor showers, placing guests among nature and high in the trees.
Centuries of tradition meet innovative practices for wellness through massages, sound and color therapy in Kao Kamasa Spa, inspired by the indigenous Pesh people. The tranquil space features numerous pools and fountains accompanied by state-of-the-art treatment spaces for hair, nails, body and mind.

Jun 7, 2023Go with the Flow: Take a Soothing Spa Journey at Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Fort Lauderdale
As they say, third time’s a charm. In April 2022, after returning from a cruise and before attending a convention, I tried to visit The Spa at the then-brand-new Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Fort Lauderdale, but there was no availability. Again, a no occupancy sign hung during a high-season visit for another colleague. Finally, a February 2023 overnight meant another shot, and this time there was a reservation available. As they also say, it was worth the wait.

Jun 6, 2023Time to Unwind
I recently returned from my second annual golf trip to Kiawah Island, where we enjoyed fantastic weather. Upon arrival, the group met for lunch at The Ryder Cup Bar, located at The Ocean Course, one of the top-ranked courses in the country. Luckily, we were not playing that day, as the wind whipped up and brought unscheduled douses of rain. As one of the caddies told me, wind gusts of 35 mph made the course unplayable. But some players braved the conditions as we sat comfortably inside enjoying our first lunch of the trip while chairs cascaded outside and players tried to keep their shots on track.
