I can remember arriving for my job interview so clearly, down to exactly what I wore. As I ascended the steps of our first office, I had no idea all that awaited and all the adventure ahead. While that was in 2006 – so almost 18 years ago and not quite the full 20 – it feels as though I’ve been with Global Traveler for the entirety of its existence. I’ve seen so much evolution of our brand, our products, our team, our philosophy, our readers … everything, and it is such an honor to present this issue to you — our 300th issue and our 20th anniversary. We’re so excited to celebrate this monumental accomplishment, and the achievements feel all the sweeter when we consider all the travel industry has endured in the past two decades.
I’ve been extremely fortunate to be a part of the Global Traveler family and to have experiences beyond my wildest dreams during my tenure. My photo collage this month, while full of photos, really only captures a handful of the incredible moments of Global Traveler. And the magazine would not be here today if not for our publisher and CEO, Francis X. Gallagher, who has successfully navigated this ship through 20 years of a wild ride.
How are we celebrating in this issue? We have an anniversary tribute on page 34, and we take a look at the world’s best coffee lands on page 42. Another trip around the globe takes us to Panamá City, Panamá; Tampa, Florida; Copenhagen, Denmark; Córdoba, Argentina; Melbourne, Australia; Malta; Rome, Italy; Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda; and the U.S.V.I.
Join us in March for a look at women hoteliers and much more. And thank you for joining us on our journey for the past 20 years and for what’s ahead in the next 20.

The 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair was one of the first major music festivals to offer on-site camping, allowing attendees to remain immersed in the experience without ever leaving the grounds. These days, vast stretches of summer farmland east and west of the festival site are still transformed each summer into a cultural wonderland, offering bazaars, arts and crafts, music and educational events, and camping sites, providing festival-goers with a peaceful escape into nature and allowing visitors today to experience the same landscape that welcomed 450,000 people during the iconic 1969 Woodstock Festival event.
