Cathay Pacific and Hertz started a new partnership that sees Hertz as the airline’s exclusive car rental service provider. That means passengers onboard Cathay Pacific flights are eligible to receive discounts on car rentals through Hertz, and members of the airline’s frequent-flyer program can earn bonus miles when renting through Hertz.

To kick off the partnership, the companies are offering a promotional 20 percent discount available in participating locations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Asia, until Jan. 31 for vehicle rentals through March 31.

Through the program’s regular offerings, all passengers flying with the Hong Kong-based airline automatically receive a 5 percent discount on Hertz rentals worldwide. Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles members receive 10 percent off rentals; Silver and Green Marco Polo Club members are eligible to receive a free one-class car upgrade. Gold and Diamond members can receive a two-class car upgrade, with Diamond members receiving a 10 percent discount on Hertz’s Prestige and Fun collections.

All of these discounts come on top of the existing deal between Hertz and Asia Miles that lets members earn up to 500 Asia Miles when booking Hertz rentals. Hertz has also launched a multibrand Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty booking website for passengers following the new Cathay partnership.
