Grand Hyatt hotels have been a big name in high-end business accommodations since its inception in New York. Named for the Grand Central Station, the brand was designed around luxury touches in the vein of 1940s glamour when women wore gloves and men had a hat for every time of day.
Now, with 48 locations in gateways cities all over the world, the Grand Hyatt opens its doors in Bogotá, Colombia. Only the fifth location in Latin America and the Caribbean, Grand Hyatt Bogotá strives to be seen as the largest hotel of its kind in the country — not to mention, with the biggest spa and guestrooms of any other Colombian hotel.
For those who know the brand all too well, expect all the signature touches you’ve come to expect from Grand Hyatt, including the Grand Hyatt Club. Grand Hyatt Globalists have access to the members-only club complete with a private dining room for meetings and open-concept kitchen space for self-serve dining all day long. When meetings run late and days start early, the club is stocked with food, snacks, drinks and high-end service all day. There’s even a library for guests to swap books they finished on the plane for a new read.
One point of pride I noted from my recent stay and tour of the property is Grand Hyatt takes great pride in attention to detail. As my group moved through the hotel, we noticed opulent pieces from the grand chandelier in the lobby (the one that took three weeks to hang) to the wallpapered walls displayed like artwork with track lighting that we soon discovered were hand-woven pieces climbing from floor to ceiling by renowned artisans. Large ice cubes were branded with a Grand Hyatt stamp before served with a cocktail and the main dining room, Capitalino
Restaurant, boasts a hand-woven, wired tapestry-esque piece that almost belonged to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Colombia is the largest producer of orchids in the world and second-largest producer of flowers in the world after Holland. Business individuals come to the city for mining, petrol and produce, such as flowers and vegetation — expect the hotel’s restaurants to bustle with activity at lunch with business meetings and colleague meet-ups.
Conveniently located just a 15–20-minute drive from the airport, 30 minutes from tourist attractions and steps away from local shops and cafés, Grand Hyatt Bogotá offers an ideal destination for business travelers to stay, and for locals to pop in for a meeting, spa treatment or reservation. Depending on the time of day, traffic can be a bit hectic, so speak to the hotel concierge about arranging transportation for you.

In front of an audience of 30,000 Kingdom of Bhutan residents and officials, His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck presented his vision for a new economic hub in Bhutan. Located between India to the south and China to the north, Bhutan is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. Bhutan came late to global tourism. It opened its borders to international visitors in 1974 and, while tourism definitely increased, residents are enduring “light” rush-hour traffic in Thimphu, its capital city, as the only Asian capital without traffic lights.

Apr 17, 2024Amansara Review
It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
