Luxury automotive company BMW released its own rideshare program, offering residents of Seattle a classy way to get around without having to hop in the driver’s seat.
BMW’s vehicle rental service, ReachNow lets residents in Brooklyn, Portland and Seattle rent and drive a stylish vehicle for an event or even just for a joy ride. The mobile app has a new service available in Seattle that lets users hire a car plus a driver to drive them instead, making BMW the first company in the sharing sphere to offer both ridesharing and rentals.
App users can open the ReachNow Ride function within the app to hire an in-moment ride or to schedule one up to a week in advance. Professional drivers behind the wheel of a BMW or Mini will pick up the passenger, who will have the option to select “quiet time” as a feature of the ride, cueing the driver to avoid engaging in small talk.
ReachNow rides cost $2.40 per mile plus 40 cents per minute, with a minimum of $3.24. New riders also must pay a sign-up fee of $15.
